Dorking to Boxhill

Map Photo Photo Photo

On a clear and sunny winter morning
For a walk through fields and woods
Thirteen heathens met at Dorking
Wearing hats and coats and hoods.

They splash through grassy fields
Paddle through mud in the spring sun
And Earth beneath them gently yields
And birds melodiously had sung.

The trees around them slowly gather
Enclosing them in melanistic shade
They bravely rose uphill as on a ladder
After resting at a sunlit glade.

Draughty Coldharbour for a bacchanal
And up to a tower on top of the hill
A valley green and gurgling waterfall
They drank the cold air to their fill.

That pleasant day in the Surrey Downs.
